Summary Reporting to the Director, Managed Security Services, the Security Operations Centre Team Manager will be responsible for effective leadership of Security Operations Centre (SOC) staff to deliver a wide range of security services and solutions to meet the strategic and operational needs of the organization. This role will build and maintain relationships with external customers, identify opportunities to improve operational processes, maximize productivity, and improve overall cost effectiveness. The SOC Team Manager provides strong direction and people leadership to the department by championing our company’s vision, mission, and values. This includes ensuring that the SOC department has the technical skills, training, and mentoring required to meet corporate objectives. Key Responsibilities Provide leadership and guidance to the MSS team on a day-to-day operational level, including ensuring that job responsibilities and procedures are followed and organizational goals are achieved. Continuously monitor the support queue, identifying patterns or trends of support issues and recommending solutions. Create and manage service delivery procedures (i.e., service, asset, change, and problem management) and ensure that service levels are maintained. Document, track, and monitor problems to ensure timely resolution. Handle day-to-day staff management responsibilities including, but not limited to, scheduling work flow and mentoring. Monitor and evaluate workload to deliver quality of service to internal and external clients; assess high visibility problems for root cause analysis, scope of impact, and appropriate response for resolution and notification. Identify deficiencies/weaknesses and corrective/preventative action measures in the SOC environment. Provide input and direction for changes which could impact or improve the delivery of services to internal and external clients. Interview and recommend employees for hire in department. Evaluate employees, support career growth, and enhance their performance. Participate in, support, and track departmental strategic budget planning. Train, oversee, and direct the training of new staff. Oversee staff schedules to ensure 24x7 coverage. Provide technical assistance/second level escalation support on client issues, services, program, and/or computer hardware and software, etc. Act as a resource to team members, participate in team and professional meetings, and give input regarding needs of clients. Required Qualifications Three or more years of supervisory/management experience Minimum five years of recent, related experience in a technology environment Degree or diploma in a related discipline, supplemented with industry recognized professional courses Results oriented, self-starter with effective leadership skills demonstrated in a variety of settings Strong understanding of service development and delivery processes Available to manage a 24x7 environment and staff Able to delegate work across multiple functions in the organization Able to make critical decisions in a highly dynamic environment Effective verbal and written communication, presentation, and organizational skills including the ability to explain technical/security services information to clients, management, and peers ITIL service management and/or project management certification considered an asset Looking for a challenging job, working with great people?
